Driverless SUV rolls into Connecticut River in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO – A driverless Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled into the Connecticut River on Wednesday.

Police and the Brattleboro Fire Department responded to the submerged vehicle at the boat ramp on Old Ferry Road at approximately 7:37 p.m.

The owner of the underwater Cherokee, identified as Blake R. Vonasek of Brattleboro, told police he parked his vehicle on the boat ramp.

When he exited the SUV, it rolled into the river until it was fully submerged, according to the report.

Crews successfully fished the Cherokee from the river, and there were no injuries from the incident.
