Driver dies after striking a tree in Marlboro

MARLBORO – A New York man was pronounced deceased after his Audi 4A struck a tree in Marlboro on Monday night.

Police responded to the fatal single-vehicle accident on Route 9 at approximately 11:13 p.m.

According to the report, a driver of a 2002 Audi 4A was traveling eastbound on Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

Police identified the man as 26-year-old James P. Teta of Troy, N.Y.

Police say multiple airbags activated from the crash and Teta was wearing a seatbelt, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation, and any witnesses are urged to call the police (802) 722-4600 ext. 522.
