SOUTH HERO — A family from Connecticut who has used an island in northern Lake Champlain as a getaway island for about 10 years, is putting the property up on the auction block next week for $850,000.
Cedar Island, which previously listed for $1.7 million, is 8.4-acres and only a five-minute boat ride to the mainland marina in South Hero.
The asking price is interesting because to put things into perspective, the average one-bedroom in Manhattan costs a solid $992K.
The main residence sits on the highest point of the island, offering 360-degree views of Lake Champlain, the Green Mountains and Adirondacks. It has five bedrooms and two bathrooms, and features panton stone fireplaces with wood stove, vaulted pine ceilings and cherry hardwood floors.
The outside property has a lounge area with a fireplace and a guest cottage.
Oh, and there’s even a hot tub.
Cedar Island will be auctioned off by Concierge Auctions on October 12.
