WHITINGHAM – Two teenagers went to the hospital after their ATV hit a culvert in Whitingham on Sunday afternoon.
Police, fire, and rescue crews responded to the single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Faulkner Road and Chase Hill Road at approximately 3:15 p.m.
According to the report, the driver of a Honda four-wheeler was traveling west on Chase Hill Road and was unable to stop at the intersection at Faulkner Road.
Police say the two riders were both from Whitingham and identified the driver as 15-years-old and the passenger as 16-years-old.
Police say the ATV continued across Faulkner road and struck a culvert causing the driver to hit a part of the ATV with her abdomen.
The accident also catapulted the passenger off of the vehicle and head-on onto a large rock.
Ambulances transported both riders to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver suffered an abdominal injury, and the passenger suffered a head injury.
Both drivers were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
